How are PEER Teens Scholars chosen?
All PEER Teens Scholars are chosen by Local Committees made up of volunteers in the community who know the PEER Teens well. They identify the promising servant leaders who come from families with financial need to qualify for the scholarship. These Local Committee members also stay in touch with the Scholars and encourage them during the years of study. They also work with PEER Servants to identify ways to enhance the PEER Teens Scholars program.
What does my scholarship donation provide and how are funds disbursed to the student?
The funds you donate are used for tuition, living expenses while at school, a laptop, and data access. Donations are sent from PEER Servants to the PEER Teens Scholar affiliate program and then Local Committee members oversee the disbursement of scholarship funds.
How much of my donation goes to PEER Teens Scholars?
All of it – 100%. When you give to PEER Teens Scholars, PEER Servants directs 100% of your gift to the PEER Teens Scholars program. How can we do this? We are a primarily volunteer organization, and so we operate with relatively low overhead costs. A portion of the funds given to PEER Servants “Where Most Needed” go to cover these low overhead costs.
