Description: Similar to building a classroom community, the goal of the Orientation is to build community early-on through the setting and sharing of intentions in a community building circle and through the review of the REP SF Principles to ground our work with one another. A glimpse into the state of education both historically and today will also be explored.

Description: Understanding how children develop and how their lived experiences impact their development is pivotal when working with youth. This seminar explores the foundations, stages, and milestones of child development and introduces the practice of Healing Informed Engagement (Ginwright, 2018). Participants will begin to apply these concepts and their implications in youth development, educational spaces, and in their own lives.
Kathy White of the Child Development & Family Studies Department at CCSF will also present on the CCSF Teacher Prep Center's resources and sign up students interested in earning Work Experience Credit (1-3 Units, CDEV 114).

Description: Creating a classroom community requires strong facilitation and a ton of patience. This seminar explores foundations and best practices of facilitation then dives into elements of cultivating "Classroom X" (Yang, 2012) while using the Theater of The Oppressed (Boal, 1970) improv. method for practicing "The Art of The Hallway Conversation" to address student behavior.

Saturday, October 6, 2018 9-3:15 p.m. (Teachers 4 Social Justice Conference, John O'Connell High School)
Descriptions:
Teacher Observation Reflections: Participants have observed SFUSD teachers in the field and will now work in small groups to reflect on their experiences, highlights, connections to their current work, and implications for their future career in education.
Careers in Education Panel: A diverse panel of six K-16 educators and professionals in education will share their journey, reflections, and advice for the REP SF participants.
Additionally, those registered in the CCSF CDEV 114 course must submit the information to the Project Manager regarding their midterm evaluations for Kathy White.
