REP SF

Rising Educator Pathway, San Francisco

A PROGRAM OF SAN FRANCISCO PEER RESOURCES

Building the next generation of educators from and for San Francisco

"Education is an important element in the struggle for human rights. It is the means to help our children and our people rediscover their identity and thereby increase their self respect. Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs only to the people who prepare for it today." -Malcolm X

Overview

We believe that our young people deserve futures in this city, committed and excellent educators, and a school system that is made for them. The Rising Educator Pathway of San Francisco (REP SF) supports current San Francisco youth workers and SFUSD alumni of color in becoming educators of and for San Francisco.

REP SF provides concrete resources to participants including:

    • A stipend

    • Professional development and skill-building in youth development and teaching practices

    • A community of youth workers with similar goals

    • 1-on-1 coaching to support you in creating a clear and attainable pathway to a career in Education.

    • (optional) IDST 300: Social Justice Work Experience credit for CCSF

Though the path to earning a college degree and teaching credential can be filled with an array of obstacles (institutional racism, working multiple jobs, supporting families, housing and financial insecurities, etc.), we believe that fully supporting the next generation of educator leaders from and for San Francisco creates a school to liberation pipeline that our communities deserve.

REP SF participants will participate in ten professional development trainings offered over five 3 to 4 hour sessions. This sequence of trainings also includes the creation of an Individual Learning Plan to lay the pathway in actualizing participant's goals of becoming an educator.
