MEET THE TEACHER

W E L C O M E

Hello! My name is Mrs. Samantha Curras, and this will be my fourth year teaching Art at Woodside Elementary School! I’ve been an educator for over ten years, and I truly find so much joy in teaching, creating, and inspiring young minds. To start my journey, I earned my Bachelors in Art Education (K-12) and my Masters in Early Childhood Education (Birth to 2nd grade) from Queens College.

Before coming to Woodside, I spent seven years teaching Preschool and Kindergarten in the NYC Public Schools, where I discovered my love for early childhood education and the magic of learning through creativity. Now, I get to combine that passion with the arts—guiding students as they explore the elements of art and their own  imaginations and creativity!

In the art room, I strive to create a warm, welcoming space where every student feels confident, curious, and excited to express themselves. I believe that Art is for everyone and that every child is an Artist in their own unique way. 

I’m so excited for another fun and colorful year at Woodside Elementary School!
