Ms. Peyton Curry is our College Adviser, assigned to Prince Edward County High School through the Virginia College Advising Corps. The University of Virginia launched the VCAC in the fall of 2005 as a public service program to address the gap in college access for low income, first generation, and under-represented students. The mission of the program is to increase the number of these students entering and completing higher education.
Ms. Curry is a 2020 graduate of James Madison University with a B.S. in Health Sciences and a minor in Chronic Illness. Hailing from Midlothian, VA, Ms. Curry has experience in college mentorship, leading college orientation programs, and providing outreach to minority students considering college. In interviewing for this position, Ms. Curry shared, "I am passionate about advocacy and equity for communities in need. Furthermore, this position aligns with and supports my goal of becoming a social worker to provide instrumental resources to underrepresented communities."
Ms. Curry's services include individual advising sessions for students and parents to assist with college and career exploration/selection, financial aid advisement, help with college applications, SAT/ACT registration, and much more.
