"That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you're not lonely
and isolated from anyone. You belong." ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald
I am looking forward to getting to know you!
I have 22 years of diverse experience in middle school, high school, and college classrooms in the United States and Europe (I taught at the International School in Genoa, Italy!) I hold a Bachelor and Master of Arts in English from Fordham University. I served as an adjunct professor of English at Iona University where I still teach courses part time. In addition, I joined the NYC Teaching Fellows program in partnership with AmeriCorps where I earned my Master of Arts with high honors in English Secondary Education at The City College of New York. I currently work as a part time Education Specialist with the New York State Education Department, working on all parts of exam creation and review for the English Regents. I have also worked on the NY State Teacher Certification Exam and the 6-8 grade ELA exam. I especially love writing items and writing literary passages for the grade 8 exam.
My instruction is heavily influenced by my passion for and experience with the International Baccalaureate Curriculum -- which integrates philosophy and emphasis on 21st Century Skills-- and Google Classroom. I am a Google Certified Educator and am currently taking additional education courses at Manhattanville University!
In addition to teaching English, I love to travel and enjoy travel writing. I also practice Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha and Kundalini yoga as well as Irish Dance with the Irish Arts Center each Monday evening!
