ENGLISH

"That is part of the beauty of all literature.  You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you're not lonely and  isolated from anyone.

You belong." ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald

I am looking forward to getting to know you!

I have 19 years of diverse experience in middle school, high school, and college classrooms in the United States and Europe (I taught at the International School in Genoa, Italy!)  I hold a Bachelor and Master of Arts in English from Fordham University.  I served as an adjunct professor of English at Iona University where I still teach courses part time.  In addition, I joined the NYC Teaching Fellows program in partnership with AmeriCorps where I earned my Master of Arts with high honors in English Secondary Education at The City College of New York.  Since 2009, I've worked with the NY State Education Department for exam creation and review, including Regents, the NY State Teacher Certification Exam, and the 6-8 grade ELA exam.  This February, I participated as an item writer for the third time!

My instruction is heavily influenced by my passion for and experience with the International Baccalaureate Curriculum -- which integrates philosophy and emphasis on 21st Century Skills-- and Google Classroom.  I am a Google Certified Educator.

In addition to teaching English, I love to travel and enjoy travel writing.  I also practice Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha and Kundalini yoga as well as Irish Dance.
