In Regents Biology, our goal is prepare to students to succeed on the Regents exam. In recent years, the Regents Biology curriculum has shifted away from the memorization of concepts and towards the growth and application of science literacy skills. This means that, instead of simply memorizing formulas and facts, students will be expected to read and comprehend passages, create and analyze data tables and graphs, and even design lab procedures. In practice, this will mean more hands on learning and more reading heavy and data analysis heavy assessments. If you have any questions about the changes in curriculum or their impact on the classroom, feel free to reach out and I'll be happy to talk it through with you further.
Biology at its core is the science of life. That being said, there is a lot of complexity to the various different topics and core ideas we will explore over the course of the year. My goal is to make each and every topic interesting and exciting for my students; however, I also recognize that every student has their own unique interests and may feel more drawn to one topic than another. Some of the topics we will cover include human body systems, cell biology, ecology, evolution, and human impact. As an Environmental Science major, I am especially passionate about ecology and human impact, but I am excited to explore each and every core idea with my students.
My name is Mr. McAllister, and I will be your child’s teacher for the first half of the 2026/27 school year. I was born and raised in Pearl River and I graduated from Pearl River High School in 2020. At a young age, I developed a strong connection with and love for science. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science at Fordham University at Rose Hill in the Bronx. After that, I decided to continue my education and am currently working towards my Master’s Degree in Education at Manhattanville College. I’m excited for the opportunity to not only teach your children about life science, but also to learn alongside them over the course of the Fall semester.
