Our district is committed to the safety, success and growth of our students, staff and the entire

Mrs. Shields oversees curriculum and instruction, special education, gifted services, federal funds, after-school programs, and several other district initiatives. A lifelong Panther, she attended Chesapeake Schools until graduating in 1988, where played and coached multiple sports for the district. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Marshall University and her master’s degree from The Ohio State University. Throughout her 30-year career in education, she has served as a teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent.
Mrs. Shields resides in Chesapeake, is married to Ival Shields, and together they are the proud parents of two Chesapeake graduates, Luke (Class of 2020) and Leah (Class of 2023).
When asked what Panther Pride means to her, she shared: “Panther Pride means honoring our history while celebrating the present. It’s about recognizing the hard work of community members who make our school and town strong, supporting one another, showing respect, and carrying yourself with integrity in the classroom, on the field, and in the community. Panther Pride is belonging to something bigger than yourself and passing that spirit on to the next generation.”

To me, Panther Pride means more than school spirit. It's a commitment to excellence, respect, and community. It's about leading our district with integrity, supporting our staff and students, and creating a culture where everyone feels valued and empowered to succeed.

What Panther Pride Means to me: "Though I didn’t graduate from here, I’ve given my heart to this school and this community. Working here is more than a job, it’s being part of a family." That's what "Panther Pride" means to me, it's bigger than oneself, it's community and family.
