Suggested Dress Code for internships

Remember that your internship is like a year long interview. Think about how to make an impression on the people you work with. Consider asking your supervisor what is appropriate. You will want to appear accessible and distinguished from the students that you work with. One way to do this is to wear your identification card on a lanyard. 

When working in schools, you will often be spending time with kids at the bus drop off, during recess, or lunch or maybe walking around the track. Most school counselors wear shoes that they can easily move around the school quickly in.
