Wednesday, December 1: 7pm at Lincoln Hall (PSU)
Portland State University Sonic Arts and Music Production presents The Witness: Original music and installations by the Laptop Ensembles with film by PSU School of Film Experimental Production.
The ensembles will premier several new pieces created and performed by ensemble members. The program will include several small ensemble and solo pieces, a piece that allows the audience to perform as part of the ensemble using their smart phones, and a piece including a performer on Zoom (reminiscent of the remote learning occurring throughout this pandemic). The show will be bookended by performances of The Witness, a text score written by composer Pauline Oliveros: The show will start will a version performed (with no audience) by the advanced laptop ensemble in Spring 2021 (documented by filmmaker Lee Dunn) and end with a live version performed by the laptop ensemble with film by PSU School of Film Experimental Production.
