Yoselin Aguirre-Perez (She/They)

Yoselin (Yo-sé-leen) is a queer, first-generation, Chicana, an undergraduate student in her final year in the School of Social Work and PSU’s Honors College. This is Yoselin’s second year working with the Queer Resource Center and being part of the committee for the Queer Students of Color Conference. Last year, Yoselin was one of two interns for the Queer Resource Center’s Queer Students of Color program and became the volunteer coordinator this year. They also work with a culturally specific organization in Portland that works with survivors of DV/SA within the Latinx community. She is also a member of the event planning committee for PSU’s Las Mujeres and a part of a research team with Dr. Geyton from the School of Social Work. In addition, Yoselin is writing a thesis that centers around the impact that Telenovelas have on the way that DV/SA is perceived in the Latinx community. Yoselin advocates for nonexclusive mutual aid and hopes to work directly with underserved communities after she graduates.

Pesa Fritts (They/ Them)

Pesa Fritts (they/them) is a queer student of color majoring in Sexuality, Gender, and Queer Studies and a D.C. native. Being able to bring a black perspective into more spaces in the PNW is a large part of their academic work. Volunteering for the QRC as part of their practicum. Pesa is working to more clearly define community expectations through activist participation. Happy QSoCC!! 

Joaquin Lopez (They/He)

Joaquín is a proud first-gen, transfer, Latinx student studying anthropology, Spanish, and decolonial frameworks. This is his second year on the desk staff team and is happy to represent his hometown of NE Portland and the Gresham area. He identifies as a queer trans masc individual and is interested about repatriation in archaeology, Black and Indigenous diaspora movements throughout Latin America, and ownership rights over local versus national heritage. Outside of the QRC, Joaquín has worked for Multnomah County Elections, is a member of the Anthropology Student Association, and has volunteered with local Portland organizations. During their downtime, they typically enjoy customizing their in-line skates, taking their pet Oso out for a run, playing games like Alien: Isolation and Dead by Daylight, and re-marathoning their favorite shows Pose and The Get Down. 

Marlene Diaz (She/Her)

Marlene (she/her/Ella) is a front desk student worker here at the QRC. She is a first-generation, third year, queer, Xicana majoring in public health with a focus on community health promotion and minoring in psychology. Marlene is also a part of the event planning committee for Las Mujeres PSU, which focuses on Latina empowerment and community. Marlene hopes to work with the Latine community and youth after graduation. Outside of work, you can find her spending time with friends, watching TV shows and movies, or listening to music. Her favorite artists are Mitski, Faye Webster, and Blood Orange and her favorite movies are Hereditary, Pearl, and Everything Everywhere All at Once. She is also obsessed with her chihuahua, Juni, and will talk about him and show him off any chance she gets. 

Ruth Lee (She/Her)

Ruth (she/her) is currently majoring in Child Youth and Family Studies and minoring in Chinese. Throughout her academic journey, Ruth has been dedicated to working towards making a difference in the lives of marginalized folks. She has volunteered with various organizations such as the Asian Pacific Network of Oregon, where she advocated for the implementation of Ethnic studies in the Portland Public School system. Her involvement with Forward Together has also allowed her to work with other individuals to create positive change within her community. In her free time, Ruth enjoys reading and journaling, with the addition of a cup of warm tea.

Madison Montgomery (She/Her)

Madison is a third year student in PSU's School of Business and a returning member of the Queer Resource Center Staff. She is an outgoing and creative queer person of color who is passionate about art and creating. Madison couldn't be more excited to promote QSOCC as Marketing Coordinator. She also looks forward to aiding in creating space for QTBIPOC at PSU within the QRC and beyond. In her free time, Madison enjoys crocheting, reading, watching TV & movies, and all things music.

Mireya Rosas-Barajas (She/They)

Mireya is a proud queer, gender expansive, first generation Mexican-American activist and academic. They were born and raised here in Oregon, and despite their many address changes, they will always consider it home. Her background is in community organizing, racial and ethnic studies, and public health research. Holding all of these identities and more is why Mireya is passionate about bringing a future where all people can live safe and meaningful lives. In their free time, Mireya can be found hanging out with Louis (their perfect tuxedo cat), drinking boba, reading, or watching romantic comedies. 

Kay Gordon (They/ Them)

Kay is Purépecha, Chicanx, Jewish, pansexual, and genderqueer. They grew up in Downey, California and have lived in the Bay Area and Boston. Their background includes community programming, education, youth and family work, and public speaking. As someone who manages depression and executive dysfunction, Kay understands the need to make spaces as welcoming, accessible, and engaging as possible. They love fostering inclusive community to promote belonging, resilience, and joy. They are honored to be able to mentor student leaders and help them reach their goals! Outside of work, Kay enjoys singing, dancing, ice cream, and nerding out about comedy and horror.
