Portland State University Sloan Center for Systemic Change

Mission: To improve participation rates, experiences, and outcomes for domestic Indigenous, Latine, and Black populations in doctoral programs in the physical sciences, math, and engineering. 

Vision: Develop a model for other R2 universities to enact similar systemic change.

Values: Science that meets the needs of the population must be produced by scientists that are representative of the population. Equity depends on going beyond representation toward inclusivity. Interdisciplinary science is the way of the future.
