Mandarin-English Bilinguals Needed for Language Research Study
The Child Language Learning Center is looking for adults who learned Standard Mandarin (Hanyu Putonghua / Guoyu / Huayu) as children to participate in a language research study.
Eligibility criteria:
18 years of age or older
Have learned Standard Mandarin from birth and learned English later, or have learned both Standard Mandarin and English from birth
Self-identify as knowledgeable in Standard Mandarin and English, and must be currently using both languages regularly
Have ALWAYS been exposed to Standard Mandarin MORE than any other Chinese dialect or tonal language
Participation involves coming to our research lab at Portland State University for a single session, which typically lasts 1.5 hours. You may be compensated $15/hour for your time². PSU parking passes will be validated¹.

Notes:
Parking passes are validated only for participants who are not currently affiliated with Portland State University.
Some visa holders are not eligible for cash compensation. Participants who are not eligible for pay will be entered into a prize raffle draw.
During Your Visit
Our waiting area has a play area with toys so your child is comfortable before their lab visit. During your study, your child will get to play games on the computer and with our lab members. These games will involve learning new sounds. More information about our studies can be found on the Research page.
Adult participants will do activities on the computer and on paper. Some studies may use a non-invasive eye-tracker to see where you look on the computer screen.
