Welcome to OMARC, the Oregon Microplastics Analytical Research Center

OMARC is a premier science laboratory dedicated to addressing the critical issue of microplastic pollution in the Pacific Northwest. Established in 2024, OMARC was designed with state-of-the-art instrumentation curated specifically for the analysis and identification of environmental microplastics. Our laboratory is at the forefront of microplastics research, working diligently to better understand the quantities, sources, and impacts of microplastic pollution and associated contaminants within various environmental media, including soil, air, water, plants, and organisms.

Located at Portland State University in downtown Portland, OR, OMARC is conveniently situated to serve as a resource for everyone from students and principle investigators to practitioners and managers, to better understand the scope of microplastic pollution.
