Enable students to ask questions and to reply to simple questions with multiple, connected, complete sentences – Novice High or Intermediate Low on the ACTFL scale by the end of the year
Gain proficiency in describing with connected sentences and with some elaboration. (The ultimate goal for middle school is to get to ACTFL proficiency level Intermediate High by 8th grade’s end.)
Enable critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Enable independent learning by practicing self-evaluation and monitoring
