Julia Jones

Meet Julia:

Born in New York, Julia spent most of her childhood in Texas and moved to Portland, Oregon in 2014. She grew up in an environment that valued community organizing and care, which heavily influenced her upbringing. Originally, her interest in urban planning led her to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Community Development from Portland State University. She has benefited most from her courses in research methods, community organizing, and advocacy to guide her career path in the broad field of Community Development. In her time at Portland State University, she has been involved with Street Roots, where she helps support their efforts to empower the houseless community in Portland. Upon graduation, Julia hopes to shift her focus towards geographic information systems (GIS), to concentrate on the relationship between community development and the build environment.
