Located on the PSU campus Park Blocks, in Fariborz Maseeh Hall (FMH 110). Visitor entrance is on the first floor.

Tours

JSMA at PSU offers free guided or self-guided tours for community groups and classes. Past tours include working with retirement communities and care facilities, after-school and social clubs and PSU courses or affiliated centers, regional colleges, pre-K and K-12 schools, and homeschool learners. Advance registration is required. Utilize the museum as a resource to enrich your experience or curriculum!

Arriving at the museum

Entrance

The museum is accessible via the stairs on the left as you enter JSMA at PSU. 

An elevator is also available at the 1855 SW Broadway (FMH) ground-level entrance past the Case Study cafe or on the first floor directly across from the JSMA entrance doors. 

Press the *1 button to arrive at the front entrance and the B button to arrive at the lower gallery level.

Parking

At the museum's Broadway entrance, there is street parking and a parking structure (PSU P1) across the street. We provide free parking permits for oversized vans and buses transporting K-12 or community groups for tours. Please contact us if you need one. 

Navigating the museum

Elevators

Elevators are located outside the entrance to the museum. Please ask a Gallery Attendant for assistance. 

Restrooms 

There are restrooms located outside the museum. On the first floor, there are restrooms located across from the ID Service counter. A restroom for all genders is located on the basement level.

Additional Accessibility Information

Assistance and Service Animals

Assistance and Service animals are permitted in the museum. A "service animal” is any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a disability. We adhere to PSU's Service Animal Policy. For more information, please read PSU’s Animal Assistance Policy.

How much does it cost to get in?
We always offer free admission.

Are baby strollers permitted?
Yes. As you explore the gallery, we ask you to be aware of your surroundings. 

Can I take photos or videos of the art?
Photography and video (without flash) are allowed except where indicated. Tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks are prohibited at all times. 

Is sketching and drawing allowed?
Drawing with pencil in the galleries is permitted.

Can I bring my food and drinks into the museum?
We’re sorry—food and beverages aren’t allowed inside the museum.

Can I check personal items?
Lockers and cubbies are available on a limited basis.

How do I learn about or register for upcoming programs and events?

Can I bring my service animal?

Are wheelchairs and strollers available?
Unfortunately, we do not have wheelchairs or strollers available. 

Is there seating in the museum?
Wooden benches are available throughout the galleries. Please ask a Gallery Attendant for a portable stool during your visit as well. 

Are masks required?
Masks are not required, but there are masks available for visitors. We adhere to PSU's COVID-19 policy. Please visit PSU's COVID-19 Response page for more information.

May I submit a proposal for an exhibition or acquisition?
No, JSMA does not accept unsolicited proposals for exhibitions or acquisitions.

Is the museum available for private event rentals?
Unfortunately, we do not rent the museum for events.

During my search for antiques, I came across a painting. Is it real? What is it worth?
We are not able to perform appraisals at JSMA at PSU, but we recommend starting your search with the following list of accredited appraisal organizations.

How do I donate artwork to the museum?
JSMA at PSU does not have a permanent art collection. If you are interested in donating to PSU’s Collection, please visit the collection’s page

Please call our front desk (503) 725-8013 or email jsma@pdx.edu and provide the following information: Your full name, contact info, and a description of the item. Found items are held for 30 days.

How can I get a job at JSMA?
Students at PSU may view JSMA at PSU's Handshake account. If you are not a student, you should sign up for PSU's job alerts on their website.
