For those who work in Home Visiting with children and families 0-to 5 years old.
No mandatory class times (all classes are self-paced every week)
This introductory course links theory, research, and practice with interdisciplinary principles and collaboration in strength-based relationships for early childhood mental health. Context includes key concepts of social and emotional development, attachment and caregiver relationships, understanding concerning behaviors, risk and resiliency, and spheres of influence, all within the context of family and culture. Students will gain knowledge on child development, positive parenting supports, and home visiting strategies. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as SpEd 410 and may be taken only once for credit.

Participants can expect to spend about Six (6) Hours a Week in Class. Class activities include reading texts and articles, watching videos, participating in discussions, and completing homework assignments.

The Scholarship is $700.00. All other costs are the responsibility of the participant.
You may register for the undergraduate section if you do not yet have a BA degree or a BA degree from another country for the following cost.

Purchase of a Resource Book - cost range is approximately $15-$30 based on an online or printed purchase. A complete list of books will be provided during the first week of class. All other reading materials will be provided in class (with no additional cost).
If you have previously completed a graduate-level class at PSU, you will be charged the graduate cost for the class. The total cost of the class is $1235.00
