About me
I am an Assistant Professor of Mathematics in Portland State University's Fariborz Maseeh Department of Mathematics + Statistics. I have been a member of PSU's faculty since 2022.
I completed my Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at University of Arizona and my B.S. in Bio-Engineering at The Ohio State University.
My research interests include computational mathematics, partial differential equations (PDEs), network science, and public health applications. In particular I focus on
Properties of PDEs on metric graphs (spectral properties, localization, steady-state behavior, etc.)
Novel coupled domains including vertex + edge + continuum (ODE in time + 1D PDE + 2D PDE) models in which the boundary conditions are another PDE.
Numerical methods: finite differences (FD), finite element methods (FEM), and optimization.
Applications, including random network lasers and the spread of epidemics.
At Portland State I am involved in strengthening our university's expertise in computational science, including curriculum development for the new Data Science major, helping expand the scope of the Portland Institute for Computational Science (PICS), and collaborating with experts all over the world. I have taught courses such as linear algebra, mathematical computing, and numerical analysis.
