What is Fall Recruiting in Accounting?
Fall recruiting refers to the primary hiring season for public accounting firms, which takes place from September - October. During this season, students will apply for 2026 and 2027 internships and full-time positions. Applications are due September-early October. Interviews take place September-late October, depending on your application date. Internship and full-time offers are extended October-early November, depending on your interview date. Leading up to the application due dates, we host various events to help you build connections with employers and support you through the recruitment process. If you're planning to intern or work full-time in 2026 or 2027, this is an excellent opportunity to secure a position. If you're not ready to apply for opportunities, fall recruiting is the perfect opportunity to explore the multitude of career opportunities that accounting has to offer while building relationships with accounting professionals. Hiring Opportunities
2026 & 2027 Internships
The perk of public accounting internships is that they often lead to a full time job offer after graduation. Typically, students intern the summer or winter prior to completing their college education. Internships typically pay between $20-$35/hr.
2026 Public Accounting (Audit or Tax) Internships:
Students finishing college between December 2026-August 2027 should apply to 2026 internships.
The last big hiring season for 2026 internships will begin in September and wrap up in late October. We recommend applying to positions after attending at least one networking event.
2027 Public Accounting (Audit or Tax) Internships:
Students finishing college between December 2027-August 2028 should apply to 2027 internships.
The early hiring season for 2026 internships will begin in September and wrap up in late October. The primary hiring season for these internships will begin during winter term.
Corporate/Governmental/Non-profit Internships:
There is not a standard hiring timeline for these internship programs, but they typically open applications 6-9 months prior to the internship start date (usually winter term)
2026 Full-Time Positions
Full-time hiring will begin in September for students finishing college between December 2025 and August 2026.
2026 Public Accounting (Audit or Tax) Full-Time Positions:
Students finishing college between December 2025 and August 2026 should start applying to 2026 full-time positions.
The primary hiring season for 2026 positions will begin in September and wrap up in late October. We recommend applying to positions after attending at least one networking event. Attending the networking events listed above is VERY important for anyone applying to 2026 full-time roles.
Corporate/Governmental/Non-profit Internships:
There is no standard hiring timeline for these positions, but they typically open applications 1-2 months prior to the start date.
Leading up to the application due dates, we host various events to help you build connections with employers and support you through the hiring process. If you're planning to intern or work full-time in 2026 or 2027, plan to attend as many of these events as you can.
