The Digital Strategy for Schools 2015-2020

Digital technology is changing how we work and how we live on a daily basis. It is also changing the way we teach, learn and assess in our classrooms, science labs, PE halls, art rooms, field trips and so on. The Digital Strategy for Schools was launched in 2015. This policy document provides a rationale and a Government action plan for embedding digital technologies into teaching, learning and assessment. Ultimately any technological advances in schools should be used to improve student learning and prepare our young people to live, learn and work in a modern globalised society. This means students as learners need to explore subject matter through the act of creating knowledge and content rather than simply consuming it. . Likewise teachers are asked to become creators, too, so that they can set up learning environments with activities that involve students are actively engaged in using the technologies to create knowledge and develop understanding.
