How much extra time did you receive when writing tests and assignments?

I usually get what is called “time and a half”. For example, if I have a test that is 60 minutes long, I would get 90 minutes to complete it (60 minutes + 30 minutes [1/2 of 60 minutes] = 90 minutes). I typically only use the time extension for specific subjects, as I tend to take longer to complete math assessments. But I like knowing that I have plenty of time to write all of my tests, so I always ask for an extension just in case I do end up needing it.
Extra time is important because it gives me more time to think about the answers, read over my work, and make any last minute changes before submitting the assignment. I typically feel more satisfied with my work after taking the time to write a detailed answer. I had to ask Student Accessibility Services for this accommodation in university, but in high school, it was already on my Individual Education Plan (IEP).
If you do not see "extra time for tests/ assignments" listed on your IEP, I strongly recommend that you ask your itinerant teacher to add this accommodation. It has been very helpful having extra time whenever I have needed it.
