Routines Test on Days 9 and 10
Things you'll need to know...
GENERAL ROUTINES AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS
- LINE UP IN THE HALL IN PAIRS
- WAIT FOR A TEACHER TO LET YOU IN
- ONCE DOOR IS LOCKED YOU ARE CONSIDERED LATE AND YOU WILL NEED TO USE ANOTHER DOOR
- 3 MINUTES TO GET CHANGED
- CLOTHES ON HOOK, NOTHING ON BENCHES!
- BOOTS/STREET SHOES UNDER BENCH
- LEAVE CELL PHONES/DEVICES IN VALUABLES TRAY IN OUR OFFICE
- BE SAFE
- BE COOPERATIVE
- BE ENCOURAGING

WHAT WE EXPECT TO SEE DURING A KIT BAG INSPECTION?
- all students are expected to come to class with their kit bag and have all of the essentials inside
- white/grey t-shirt, athletic shorts/tights/pants, stick deodorant-NO AEROSOL/SPRAY and a small towel)

Basketball Unit Tests are on Feb 12 and 13th

Grade 6's Need to Know:
- What B.E.E.F. stands for (Balance, eye on target, elbows tucked in and follow through with body/hand)
- How to hold a ball for shooting (dominant hand in front of face, non-dominant hand on side of ball)
- When shooting, you should know where your target is (where you should look) backboard or the rim
- Where you should stand when you do a backboard shot (otherwise known as a bank shot)-45 degree angle
- how to hold a ball for passing (hands on sides of ball, thumbs pointing up)
- Rules for BUMP game (first shot from behind foul line, how to eliminate other players, no bumping allowed, bounce pass to next person in line when done shooting)
- dribbling violations: double dribble and travelling
- basics of how to do a lay-up (e.g. right handed shooter-left, right, left)
Grade 7's
- all of the above, plus...
- When passing a ball, where your pass should be coming from and landing (chest)
- What your options are once you place both hands on the ball after dribbling
- explain what a Triple Threat is (pass, shoot, dribble)
Upcoming Table Tennis Test
Things that you will need to know for the test:
Grade 6:
- safety for table tennis (potential hazards)
- when to use open and closed face paddle position
- rules about saying the score during a game (when, and who)
- how many times one must serve during a game
- how to determine who serves first
- rules about when one can hit the ball during a rally
- ettiquite related to passing the ball to the other team
- the order that must be followed when serving-paddle/table/table
Grade 7
- all of the above and....
- the order of contact during a game with four players
be able to explain what a let is and what happens when one occurs: when serving, during a rally

Things to know for the test:
Grade 6's:
- how to rotate
- how many players are on the court (Tomken Grade 6 rules)
- # of contacts allowed in grade 6
- net violations
- how to return the ball to the other team (roll it under net)
- when to do a forearm pass and when to do a volley (when ball is above and below shoulders)
- how to do a serve (hit with dominant hand, make contact with the heel of the hand, point feet in the direction you want the ball to go, swing arm like a pendulum, hit the ball at 7 O'Clock, follow through)
- when is a ball in or out (when ball lands on line)
- be able to describe the ready position (feet shoulder width apart, one leg slightly in front, back straight, heels off of floor), bottom down, legs bent, hands out in front unlocked)
- be able to label the baseline, sideline, attack line and net on a diagram of a volleyball court
Grade 7's:
- all of the above which is needed to be known in grade 6 PLUS...
- postitons on court (1,2,3 setter, 4, 5, 6 server)
- service formation and w serve receive formation (look at pictures that I've attached below!)
- be able to list a couple of things that we do differently in grade 7 vs. grade 6 (e.g. different ball, # of contacts with ball, number of people on court etc.)
- how you position your body in order to a forearm pass and volley
- how to execute a proper serve
- basic rules to a grade 7 volleyball game (REAL VOLLEYBALL!!!)
