The BREAKERSPACE in the Foundry is an activity whereby students can choose from a number of broken electronics and take them apart. Using screwdrivers, levers, and other tools, you can separate the broken item into its component parts.
Once you have taken the electronic device apart, take a picture of it! Using "flat lay photography" or "knolling", spread out all of the components on a piece of bristol board and take a snapshot!
After taking your picture, you can use the parts for whatever you'd like! They could be used for construction materials, a piece of jewelry, an art piece, or any other creative project. Have fun!
When participating in Breakerspace, make sure you use either a placemat or table cloth under the machine. Remember, you must take the device apart carefully and not smash it. Once you are finished, please discard the items in the appropriate bins (i.e., recycling, garbage, or "thingies & do-dads" construction bin)
