Subsidies are available for select Additional Qualification (AQ) offerings for Peel teachers.

AQ subsidies are available to eligible Elementary and SecondaryTeachers in PDSB through your local union (PETL or OSSTF), For more information, see below.

Subsidies are provided through the various departments. One subsidized course per session is allowable. If you have any specific questions about the subsidy, please contact the department directly, or send your questions to us at LearnForward@peelsb.com and we will re-direct your inquiry.

All French as a Second Language AQs - PDSB Teachers

Subsidy provider: Curriculum, Instruction and School Improvement

NOTE: NTIP Teachers in their first five years may be eligible to receive an NTIP subsidy for any French AQ. Please see NTIP Subsidy details below.

Any teacher (e.g., STO, LTO, contract) with federation membership (e.g., ETFO, OSSTF) may apply for up to $600 towards the cost of an AQ in French as a Second Language taken by Learn Forward Peel.

PDSB teachers are required to enroll for the AQ Course through LearnForwardPeel and pay the course fee in full and subsidy will be credited upon successful completion of the course

All Math AQs - PDSB Teachers

Subsidy provider: Mathematics (CSI)

The Ministry of Education announced the implementation of $4 million in funding to subsidize additional qualification (AQ) courses. Teachers who successfully complete or have completed the following AQ or additional basic qualification (ABQ) courses in math between September 1st, 2025 and August 31st, 2026, pending Ministry announcement, are eligible for this subsidy:

1. Mathematics, Primary, and Junior – Part 1, 2, or Specialist

2. Mathematics, Intermediate or Senior (ABQ)

3. Mathematics, Honours Specialist

4. Mathematics, Grade 7 and 8

Any teacher (e.g., STO, LTO, contract) with federation membership (e.g., ETFO, OSSTF) may apply for up to $650 towards the cost of an AQ or ABQ in Mathematics. Only the courses listed above will be considered for this subsidy.

NOTE: This subsidy may be applied to Math AQ courses from any provider. Pre-approval is required for educators taking courses outside of Learn Forward Peel.

FNMI Learn Forward Courses

NTIP/Side by Side - Year 1-5 PDSB Teachers

$400 Subsidy

Eligibility:

Year 1-5 PDSB Teachers

Subsidy provider: NTIP/Side by Side (CSI)

*NOTE: This subsidy is available for PDSB LearnForward AQ Courses ONLY.

Applicants are invited to apply for Summer courses to receive a subsidy in the 2025-2026 school year.

AQ funding is available for 50 NTIP teachers upon a first come - first serve basis, based on eligibility (i.e., currently in their first five years as an OT, LTO, permanent teacher) for AQ courses taken through PDSB LearnForward only.

Pre-approval of the NTIP subsidy must be obtained to ensure reimbursement upon the successful completion of the AQ course.

IMPORTANT: You must enroll in the AQ course prior to submitting the subsidy pre-approval form. If you are not enrolled in a course, your request for pre-approval will be denied.

Subsidy will be credited upon successful completion of the course.

NTIP eligible teachers may only apply for ONE (1) NTIP PDSB AQ subsidy in the 2025-2026 school year. If you have already received a subsidy (or have been pre-approved for the Spring NTIP subsidy) this school year, you are not eligible to receive a subsidy for the Summer sessions. The NTIP Subsidy CANNOT be combined with other subsidies (e.g., PETL, OSSTF, other board departments).

Special Education and Equity Courses

Subsidies for courses were available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds were fully allocated. The 2025-2026 subsidy funds for Special Education and Equitable and Inclusive Schools courses are currently fully allocated. Candidates interested in taking these courses can consider reaching out for subsidy to their federations (see below), or can apply for NTIP pre-approval if in the NTIP program (see below).

PETL - Peel Elementary Teachers Local

AQ subsidies are available to Elementary Teachers in PDSB through your local union through STPDL funding our PETL Course Funding.

NEW this year, Eligible members can apply to STPDL Funding for funding for an AQ/ABQ.

PETL Course Funding - PETL Course Funding is available for members of PETL who have not already accessed PETL Conference Funding, and will fund up to $600 toward course tuition fees (as outlined in the full guidelines linked)

OSSTF D19 members can access STPDL funds for AQ courses (with the exception of PQPs). Go to the members' site for more details.
