The supplier of interpretation, translation and American Sign Language (ASL) services for the Peel Board continues to be Multilingual Community Interpreter Services (MCIS).
Trained interpreters from MCIS representing a variety of languages are available to schools/departments. Staff may require interpreters for parent-teacher conferences or meetings about individual students. Discussions may involve social work matters, behaviour, special needs, strengths/needs, information gathering or other factors related to student progress. When used for such purposes, costs are covered centrally through Curriculum and Instruction.
Translation Service will be paid for by the School and/or Department. This can be done via PCard, Invoice Entry or PO.
