This course enables students to further explore and develop technological knowledge and skills introduced in the elementary science and technology program. Students will be given the opportunity to design and create products and/or provide services related to the various technological areas or industries, working with a variety of tools, equipment, and software commonly used in industry. This course introduces students to computer programming. Students will plan and write simple computer programs by applying fundamental programming concepts, and learn to create clear and maintainable internal documentation. They will also learn to manage a computer by studying hardware configurations, software selection, operating system functions, networking, and safe computing practices. Students will also investigate the social impact of computer technologies, and develop an understanding of environmental and ethical issues related to the use of computers.

This course introduces students to computer systems, networking, and interfacing, as well as electronics and robotics. Students will assemble, repair, and configure computers with various types of operating systems and application software. Students will build small electronic circuits and write computer programs to control simple peripheral devices or robots. Students will also develop an awareness of related environmental and societal issues, and will learn about secondary and postsecondary pathways and career opportunities in computer technology.

This is an introductory course to the transportation industry, focusing mainly on practical, hands on tasks with computer based theory. Fun practical tasks are broken into three categories: Aerodynamics, Vehicle based, and General automotive practices. Students enjoy the practical experience, as they can pick and chose which order which they complete them, and in a time line that best suits them individually. All theory work is completed on a computer program, which gives the students the flexibility to complete the required work both at school and the convenience of home. Quizzes and tests also are completed on the classroom computers, giving them immediate results at completion.

This course introduces students to computer science. Students will design software independently and as part of a team, using industry-standard programming tools and applying the software development life-cycle model. They will also write and use subprograms within computer programs. Students will develop creative solutions for various types of problems as their understanding of the computing environment grows. They will also explore environmental and ergonomic issues, emerging research in computer science, and global career trends in computer-related fields.

Students will learn about robotics technology. Students interested in post-secondary education in design, engineering technology or manufacturing will have the opportunity to further develop their design skills and understanding of the Design Process. Students will research, design, build and assess solutions to assigned problems with robotics technology. This course provides students with opportunities to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to understand, select, use and manage robotic systems. Students will understand the role of robotic technology in our economy; it's relationship to other economic sectors; and the effects on society and the environment. They will explore career opportunities in the field.

This course is designed to accommodate students that have no previous Transportation Technology experience, and those who have some basic knowledge of the industry. Students enjoy the practical experience in two ways: 75% of predetermined tasks set by the instructor, 25% of student generated tasks of their choosing. This gives the students the structure of both the necessary requirements of the industry, and that of their own personal interests. All theory work is completed on a computer program, which gives the students the flexibility to complete the required work both at school and the convenience of home. Grade 12 Technological Design provides students the opportunity to solve problems in design for residential architecture and manufacturing. In this course, students will apply this design process in a number of hands on projects. They will study product design case studies to further enhance their understanding of design. Students will design and draw and then they will build prototypes using machinery and tools found in the well equipped shop.

This course prepares students for both post secondary education, and transitioning directly into the work force, as both theory and practical work are directly related to industry standards. All practical work is student generated with instructor guidance, to allow students to satisfy their personal interests while maintaining and learning the technical requirements to be successful in the Transportation environment. Students enjoy the practical experience as a wide variety of practical tasks are performed, such as advanced welding techniques and fabrication, industry level mechanical repairs, and computer controlled diagnostics. Theory work is both mechanical, and electronic based, directly related to the academic level of post secondary and trade related requirements.
