Day 1
January 1st 2018
- I am learning to use the new Google Site to show students how to use it for their e-Portfolios. It seems to be straight forward. I hope this helps them to connect the activities and discussions in class to their own lives.
- Maybe instead of using Google Forms students can directly use this as their journal entries. But I will have no way of knowing if students actually made the entries on the day of or afterwards.
- OF COURSE THEY WILL DO IT LAST MINUTE, they're teenagers, after all.
- Will students just blindly copy and paste this?
- OF COURSE THEY WILL, they're teenagers, after all.
One thing that intrigues me:
- I hope that students will be able to use the skills for this project to make their own blog, or even use this as an exemplar of their work when applying to post-secondary programs, scholarships, or summer internships.
After doing this assignment for 3 years, I think it's worthwhile. I have long abandoned the teaching style of "Teach, Test, Hope for the best". I hope my students will embrace this project and really try to connect what they've learned in class to their own lives. I do need to improve on the things we do in the class that has more everyday applications. One step at a time, I guess.
Question: How can this post be improved?
