Dreambox Learning uses a complex algorithm in the background of its program to trace student learning gaps in math. Once identified, the program will recover old teaching and re-introduce the material to your child to help build that foundation. The program uses a mini-game reward system to encourage student learning for students in grades K-12 ($C).
Pencil Code is a collaborative programming site for drawing art, playing music, and creating games. It is also a place to experiment with mathematical functions, geometry, graphing, webpages, simulations, and algorithms. Canadian Points of View Reference Centre contains resources that present multiple sides of a current issue — this database helps students develop persuasive arguments and essays, better understand controversial issues and develop analytical thinking skills. Pebble Go Next could be a self-directed or teacher-directed resource. Although there are no timed or intermittent mini-game rewards, there are many fun activities and games that are associated with each topic area. Rich in topics of science and social studies, this resource can be used for students in grades 4-8 (F$).
LightSail is an adaptive web based program that contains texts written across a wide range of Lexile measures. These texts are embedded with assessments and cover a variety of subject matter. Students can discover who they are as readers through a library filled with great texts for students in grades K-12 (C$).
Sumdog is both a literacy and numeracy resource that adapts to each student, using engaging game-based learning to motivate and build confidence.
