What an absolutely incredible day! It was a deeply moving and fitting tribute to six decades of community, learning and history.
An event of this magnitude doesn't just happen, and we have some very special thanks to extend:
To Our Amazing Students: Thank you for your spectacular musical performances! The energy, talent and enthusiasm you brought to the stage completely lit up the room and filled us all with immense pride.
To Mr. Gary: A huge thank you for your stellar organisation and leadership. We know it took months of tireless practice and dedication to get the students ready and your hard work truly shone through in every note.
To Abeer, Our Event Planner: Thank you for masterfully orchestrating the entire project. From the stunning flowers and perfect lighting to the crisp sound engineering, every detail was flawless. A special mention must go to the incredible video documenting the rich history of PDO School - it brought tears to many eyes and will be cherished for years to come.
A Final Note of Gratitude: We hope that everyone who attended enjoyed the day as much as we did. It was the perfect way to honour the legacy of PDO School and close this beautiful 60-year chapter. Thank you to our entire community for making it unforgettable!

Children came to school wearing their national colours, flags or traditional dress. They shared international food and stories from their home countries. These experiences encouraged curiosity, respect and appreciation of different cultures.
They developed a strong sense of identity and belonging within our diverse school community.
Last Thursday, Milepost One enjoyed an exciting International Celebration as part of International Week.

Milepost 1 parents were invited to enjoy a range of international day related festivities. The children wrote their names in Arabic and decorated the flag of Oman. Lovely and heartfelt messages were written on leaves as part of our reflection tree and the children looked at their memories of Oman on stones. Connections between different countries were made through flag making and the children created tiles of things that they love about Oman. One of the highlights of the celebrations was the fashion parade and impromtu dancing around the tables with children, staff and parents to sounds from around the world!
As part of their IPC Chocolate unit, Year 4 enjoyed a fantastic hands-on learning experience this week. After researching, designing and planning their own unique chocolate creations, the children brought their ideas to life.

The children also took part in a chocolate taste test, creating flavour profiles by evaluating the appearance, aroma, texture and taste of a range of chocolate samples. This helped them develop their observational skills and use precise vocabulary to describe their experiences.
It was wonderful to welcome parents into the classroom to celebrate the children's creativity and learning.
Year 5 had a wonderful end to their IPC unit, Bake It!, by using their maths and science skills to bake and decorate cupcakes themed around solids, liquids and gases.

Children carefully followed a recipe to weigh, measure and mix the ingredients in the correct order to ensure success. Working together in pairs, every child demonstrated fantastic collaboration to bake six cupcakes each. We then welcomed parents into our classrooms to share in the decorating process. Children had designed their toppings thoughtfully, considering the particles and features of the different states of matter, with some even choosing the newly discovered Bose-Einstein condensate. It was a fun and delicious way to celebrate our learning and for the children to share their knowledge and skills with their parents.
Thank you to our PTA who are arranging a school dance for the children later in June.
Please see the poster for more details.
Thank you to our School Council for creating our posters and tickets.

We are excited to continue sharing our Personal Goals Padlet platform in our weekly newsletter to celebrate achievements together as a wider community. Read more
We kindly ask for your support in capturing moments when your child demonstrates any of the Personal Learning Goals - whether at home, in the park, during outdoor play or in daily routines. For example, if your child shows collaboration while playing outside, you may upload one photo and select the appropriate Personal Goal folder (e.g., “Collaboration”).
Families are welcome to share one photo per week if they wish, highlighting a Personal Goal your child has demonstrated.
Please click on the Padlet link below to share your child’s achievement with our community. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to celebrate their out-of-school achievements and for us to reinforce that their Personal Learning Goals are transferable skills beyond the classroom.
Thank you for supporting the celebration of children’s achievements.
