We look forward to welcoming you all to this final chapter of our school’s history as we recognise the lasting impact of the PDO School community.
As a reminder, PDO School will be permanently closing at the end of this current term. It is absolutely critical that all parents have already secured alternative schooling for their children for the next academic year. Places in other schools can be limited and late applicants potentially risk not finding an available place.
Transitioning to OPIS (Our Planet International School)
If you are intending for your child to attend OPIS, please be aware that there is no direct or automatic transfer from PDO School to OPIS. You must submit a formal, independent application directly to OPIS. Students will not be automatically enrolled and you must complete their specific admissions process to secure a seat.
Holiday next week Eid Al Adha- We have yet to receive confirmation, but it seems likely that Tuesday May the 26th will be the start of the 3 day holiday. School will resume on Sunday May the 31st.
Medical-Please do not send your child to school when he or she is feeling unwell or is still on medication.
Children are required to be fever free and medication free for 24 hours before returning to school. Many thanks for supporting this school policy.

On Thursday, the children will enjoy an International Feast within their Mileposts.
We kindly ask that your child brings in a clearly labelled traditional dish, with all ingredients stated, to share with their peers. (No nuts or pork products please in respect of our host nation). Further details will follow from Mileposts.
We also invite children to wear traditional clothing or the national colours of their home, host, or heritage country(ies) as part of the celebration!
The celebration never stops! The enjoyment in Early Years continues as we move further through our unit, ‘Let’s Have a Party!’

The children are eagerly channeling their enthusiasm into a variety of hands-on learning activities, working beautifully as a team to decorate a giant ‘Party’ display banner together. They are also busy crafting colourful paper chains and practising their fine motor skills by wrapping mystery presents for their friends. They have even set up parties for toy turtles as well as LOTS of numbers, providing a ‘one, two, three’ countdown to the start! These collaborative, playful tasks are carefully structured to engage their curiosity, foster deep social interaction and cooperation, enhance spatial awareness and strengthen coordination. We look forward to capturing more of their laughter and shared teamwork as this memorable learning journey continues!
This week in Milepost 1, Year 2 showcased their learning through their Exit Point; Travel From A to B.

The children showcased their singing, opening with the 'From A to B' song and they were joined by their parents in the second rendition - the children thought the parents did ok but they were better!
The students confidently showed their learning to the parents. Ms Liz oversaw the making of paper cars and used their understanding of forces to race the cars! The parents were guided to different treasures in the large grids outside by the children using directional langauge and went through their IPC books, presenting their learning.
In Year 4, the children have immersed themselves in the exciting world of 'The Great Chocoplot' during English lessons.

They explored the dramatic events of the ‘chocopocalypse’ through prediction, descriptive writing and discussion activities, while revisiting key grammar skills such as fronted adverbials, expanded noun phrases and direct speech. The children have been collaborating to write vivid descriptions of a chocolate eruption using sentence stacking techniques. Year 4's creativity, teamwork and thoughtful discussions surrounding the positive and negative consequences of a chocopocalypse have been particularly impressive.
As part of the Moving People unit, Year 6 recently demonstrated their excellent communication and research skills by sharing presentations about their family migration histories.

The children began by researching movements within their family’s past, exploring the different factors that acted as “pushes” or “pulls” for moving from one country to another. As they gathered information and family photographs, the children showed great organisation and independence, carefully planning how to present their findings in a clear and engaging way. Working in small groups, their teachers provided constructive feedback to help them refine both their visuals and presentation skills. The children listened thoughtfully to advice, reflected on ways to improve, and collaborated positively with their peers throughout the process.
Once their work was polished, the children delivered their presentations to groups of their peers. The presentations were absolutely fantastic, with clear evidence of the hard work that had taken place at home. Many children demonstrated impressive resilience as they practised speaking confidently in front of others and adapted their presentations to make them even more effective.
It was a real pleasure to learn more about each of our wonderful Year 6 students and their families. The children spoke confidently and passionately about their findings, demonstrating pride in their heritage alongside growing confidence as communicators and learners.
A huge congratulations to our newest Learners of the Week! This award recognises the incredible effort they put into their learning and the excellent ways they are putting their personal goals into practice. It's fantastic to see them growing and becoming such dedicated and confident learners.
