Congratulations to our boys basketball team! Please see the article below, the event itself sounded incredibly exciting and will provide memories of a lifetime for the boys who played. Our role as educators is to provide positive learning experiences for all of our students; our PE staff (Scott and Iveth) spend significant hours coaching our students so they are able to perform at a high level; this is a culmination of several years work to develop all of these skill sets. The girls' team are playing next week, we look forward to some more positive news.
You will see below we have included a notice on completion of a form relating to data protection, may I please request that all parents complete this form. It is a directive from the the government.

To comply with recently implemented Data Protection laws in Oman, we are required to obtain your explicit consent for the data we hold. We hold only such data as is necessary for the normal operation of the school and safeguarding of the children, or is required by the Ministry of Education. Thank you to all the parents who attended the Maths workshop on Monday. We hope that you now have some more practical suggestions on how you can support your child's learning with Maths at home. Please find the slideshow link to the left and suggestions list for EY / MP1 linked here. These can also be found on the Learning Portal.
Our U11 boys basketball team have been crowned Champions for the second time. After winning the South Tournament with a convincing win in the final, our team travelled to the North League to take on 7 other schools in the league.
It was fantastic tournament with our young Scorpions unbeaten on their way to the final against The Sultan's School. It was an incredible game that was 8-8 with 10 seconds to go! TSS scored a free throw to go one point ahead. Our scopions sprinted up the court pushing back the other team to free up space for our Point Guard Sebastian McCurrach to take the final shot on the buzzer which swished into the net. It was an incredible end and one that myself, Ms Iveth and hopefully the team will never forget! An amazing performance all round and has been the result of the time spent developing and practising Basketball over the last few years. Congratulations Team! Next week our girls head up to the same tournament to showcase their skills. Good Luck!
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been building on the work we started with our IPC consultants by using the Looking for Learning approach across the school.
As part of this, a few of us have been visiting each other’s classrooms to see what learning looks like from the children’s point of view. It’s been a powerful way to support each other and focus on what really matters: the children’s learning.

One of the most valuable parts has been talking directly to the children and asking them about their learning. We’ve been asking questions like: What are you learning? Is it something new, or are you building on what you already know? Is it tricky or easy? Are you enjoying it?
These conversations help us understand how children are developing their knowledge, skills and understanding—and how we can support them even better.
It’s been a really insightful experience, and hearing children speak so confidently about their learning has been a real highlight. Keep an eye out for some photos—you might even spot a few familiar faces!
The PDO School production is coming ever closer!
Ticket information will follow tomorrow!
This week, the children explored watercolor painting, built with blocks and worked together to create train track adventures. A fun and creative week of learning through play!
Transition to Year 1
As we move closer to the end of the year, we have begun supporting the children with their transition to Year 1. This exciting step is all about helping them feel confident, curious and ready for the new adventures that await in the next stage of their learning journey. Read more
How we are supporting this
The children have been visiting the big school building, exploring the Milepost 1 Play Bay and spending time with new adults and older children. They have enjoyed visiting the main library and learning how to check books in and out all by themselves. Now, they join the older children for morning break, building confidence, learning new games and developing social skills. Each experience helps them feel more prepared and excited for the transition to Year 1. A big thank you to our wonderful Year 6 buddies for their kindness and support!
This week in Milepost 1 the students applied their understanding of measure to a real life investigation.

The children connected their IPC topic 'Greenfingers' to their Maths topic of measuring length and width. First, they explored what a centimetre and a metre is and used this knowledge to investigate how to measure accurately, using objects in the classroom. Next the children looked at different types of leaves and estimated the width and length of the leaves. They communicated their ideas with their learning partner and then used the ruler to measure the actual length and width. Finally, they answered questions about their findings.
Y3 students dive into ocean emotions and environmental action at Bait Al Zubair

Last Wednesday, the children in Y3 went on a trip to Bait Al Zubair to view the 'Emotions of the Oceans' exhibition and were very excited and proud to see PDO School's artwork featured in it. They also took part in a creative workshop which aimed to help the children to understand the importance of protecting our Earth by reducing, reusing and recycling. A theme that we will continue to explore back in the classroom in our IPC unit, 'Vanishing Rainforests'.
As part of our IPC unit: Go With The Flow, Year 5 pupils took their geography learning outside for a hands-on exploration of rivers.

Using sand, stones and plenty of creativity, the children worked in teams to build their own river models. These models included a range of physical geographic features that we have been studying in class, such as meanders, deltas and tributaries.
To bring our models to life, we poured water through the river valleys and watched in real time how erosion and sedimentation take place. This practical experience helped consolidate our understanding of how rivers shape the landscape around them and allowed us to see the power of water in action.
Most importantly, the children had a fantastic time working collaboratively and getting actively involved. The activity sparked lots of discussion and curiosity and it was wonderful to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic.
Just a gentle reminder — if your child is turning 3, you're warmly invited to register them at PDO School and join our Toddler Hut sessions!
These sessions are a fantastic way for little ones to explore through play and start feeling right at home in our school setting. If you have any questions or would like more information, feel free to reach out to us at notices@pdoschool.com. We can’t wait to welcome you and your little ones to Toddler Hut!
As always, it's wonderful to see lots of learning objectives and PLGs being achieved!
