World Book Day Celebrations at PDO School

Today we have been celebrating World Book Day!

Thank you for making the children's day special with all their fantastic costumes. We have enjoyed seeing them all in the World Book Day parade. We have received lots of amazing Library Art entries from our talented students. All of the entries will be displayed in our newly decorated School Library in the next few weeks.

The students enjoyed looking through our old library books and purchased lots of them. All of the money raised will go towards purchasing new books for classrooms. Everyone received a Certificate of Participation for their costumes and for their library art entries. The winners received a special certificate and a book prize.

A big thank you to Miss Zoe, Miss Jo and Miss Julie Ann for organising this event and to all the teachers and children for their whole hearted participation today!

Can you guess which book characters these teachers and children have dressed up as?

Early Years teachers and children had great fun with aliens, princesses, lions and elephants !

School Librarian

Zoe and the Dragon - in this case our Miss Zoe, the school librarian with Alman our dragon for the day!

Art Leader

Miss Jo, our Art Leader, has organised the World Book Day Art Competition. We aim to display as many of the entries in our library for the end of this term for all of the pupils to enjoy.

More Maths Success for PDO pupils!

Big congratulations go to Bhavyam in P7S who took part in the SOF International Mathematics Olympiad. He scored an incredible 100% in the competition and secured first place regionally and internationally. He will soon be achieving a gold medal for his excellent efforts. What a fantastic achievement - well done Bhavyam!

Sporting Achievements

Polina spent her Eid holidays in the UK at the National Sports Centre for tennis, where she trained everyday with many high ranking junior players. During the week she played in two LTA ranking tournaments, and won at Queenswood and was Runner-Up in another. What a great way to spend the holiday. Well done Polina!

Bruno recently competed in the EID race at the Muscat Speedway. It was his first competition in the 8-12 year old category and he managed to secure the fastest lap. A fantastic achievement!

The options we are condidering are Arabic, French and Spanish. We will be sending out a google survey in the near future to canvass your opinions.

Nurse Munira

Dear Parents,

Gentle reminders:

1. Keep your child at home if they have Covid-19 symptoms.

2. Keep your child at home if they have been in contact with someone who has Covid-19.

Fortunately, the number of Covid cases is falling in Oman and this has been reflected in our PDO school's number of referrals. The PDO Medical Team has not changed their flow charts presently, which are still in alignment with Ministry requirements. However, the Medical Team continues to support PDO School in the management of infections, dealing with referrals on a case by case basis.

Should you require any further medical information or support, please contact Nurse Munira

nurse@pdoschool.com

Nurse Munira got into the spirit of World Book Day today, by dressing up with the children!

Pupil collection at the end of the day

Please could we remind parents to inform notices@pdoschool.com or your class teacher if your child is being collected at the end of the day by another adult. This helps us to ensure that your child is kept safe at all times.

Leaving Oman

We request that parents who have plans to move away from Oman, to please provide us with the details as soon as possible. This will allow us time to issue the Transfer Certificate and documents your child may require for application to a new school, as well as to be able to give your child a traditional school farewell.

Parental Concerns:

At PDO School we acknowledge that, from time to time, parents may wish to express concerns about specific aspects of their child’s education. We are always happy to investigate and respond to these concerns. Please note that, for the Class Teachers, it is important that even informal discussions take place outside of their teaching time.

What do I do if I have a concern?

Please make the Class Teacher your first point of contact if your concern is not successfully resolved, please contact the school via notices@pdoschool.com to make an appointment with the Deputy Head Teacher, Ms. Kath Morgan, or myself.

Mr. Hamed, our School Manager, is also happy to listen to any parental concerns that have not been resolved successfully.
