School  Newsletter

  17th April 2024

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the start of Term 3, I hope you all had a good break and managed to connect with friends and family.

We have a very busy term ahead, the book week is the key area of focus currently and the school has been transformed in the last few weeks as we look to celebrate reading and all the benefits that it brings. Reading is an established focus of all primary schools, our aim will be to ensure that we promote reading and introduce children to a number of authors, and genres. Please discuss books at home and talk about your favourite books with children from your own childhood; these all help to initiate stimulating conversations. I think we are all getting excited about the book week and looking forward to a week full of wonder!

A reminder of the PTA Quiz night that is taking place next week, the advert can be found below and you can see a list of the prizes that are available. Many thanks to the PTA for the organizing of this wonderful event.

We plan to open the school in the morning (Thursday). We have not received any communication indicating that we will be closed. However, please monitor your Seesaw account and check for any updates.

Early Years

The Early Years team were excited to arrive at school this week to find that our Early Excellence order had arrived!  We have some fabulous new resources which will enrich our continuous provision, elevate learning and open up new possibilities for teaching and learning.  We hope that children and parents will be as excited as we are.

Milepost 1

A big thank you to all of our students in Years 1 and 2 for being resilient and adaptable learners!  Lots of learning took place and not only for the students!  We would like to extend a huge thank you to the parents and carers for supporting the students during online learning.

Here is a sample of work carried out this week in Year 2:

Ahmed- IPC research and creating an information text - well done!

Research the national flower of your home country and create a poster - well done Yousuf!

Excellent measuring during our Maths lesson by Alex C!

Milepost 2

The Year 3&4 teachers would like to acknowledge our pupils for being so adaptable and resilient this week during the change to schooling! You have really impressed us with your communication skills and thinking skills to complete learning online. Not to forget our supportive families who have helped in a huge way. Thank you all!

The MP2 adults have been busy between online lessons getting things ready for our Book Week next week- we can't wait to see you all back in school to enjoy it! Reminders of the events happening can be found on Seesaw.

'Look Hear'  - Year 6 IPC Entry Point

On Sunday, the Year 6 students experienced all things 'light and sound' related when we launched our new IPC unit. The aim of the entry point was to get the children thinking about, and engaged with, the learning that’s to follow. They began to question the items in front of them: What are they used for? What was different about them? Can they be tested or compared? - Without prompt, the students started using some scientific vocabulary which was wonderful to hear.

Moving ahead, we will be improving our knowledge, skills and understanding of how sound and light work. Whether we are driving around in our cars, working or relaxing at home, turning on lamps, music, TV, radio, computers and mobile phones, we are plugged into sound and light during our waking hours. But what allows us to hear and see?

We will need to be scientists and technologists to find out all about sound and light!

P.E.

We had to be adaptable this week as we returned to online learning for part of this week.  It was great to see the children's participation and enthusiasm in the online P.E. challenges.  Well done to all of you who took part in the games, challenges and live sessions, we hope you enjoyed them. Despite the fun this week we are looking forward to having you all back in for our regular lessons and swimming for the rest of Term 3.

Golf and Gymnastics

Following the delayed start of our enrichment this week for those who have signed up for the Golf and Gymnastics enrichment please note that the missed session will be made up later in the term.

Both golf and gymnastics have proven to be a popular addition to our Enrichment programme and we have some exciting developments of how these can progress in the future.

We do have some availability on a Wednesday for Gymnastics if anyone would still like to sign up. If you are interested please let me know and we can forward the relevant sign up information.

Final gymnastics spaces remain on a Wednesday if anyone would still like to join.
