Gary Ruston

As some of you may be aware, this is will be my second time at PDO school, having previously worked there for seven years between 2016 and 2023. Although initially employed in the engineering industry after leaving school, I have been teaching for over twenty years and pride myself on having taught every year group from Nursery through to A level students.

After initially training as a primary class teacher in 2003, I transferred to secondary music in 2006. In 2010, I moved to Kuwait; initially teaching cross phase music but eventually taking on the role of Head of Primary Music at The British School of Kuwait. Since leaving PDO School in 2023, I have worked the Haberdashers Abraham Darby School in UK. Not only a school with a long and extremely successful tradition in music but the school that I was fortunate enough to attend many years ago.

My time at PDO School remains very special to me and a without doubt one of the highlights of my career. I am really looking forward to continuing to build on previous success and establishing the school’s outstanding musical reputation throughout Muscat.

Marie McCready

My name is Marie, and I am extremely excited to be joining PDO School in August.

For the past five years, I’ve taught at two International Schools in Brunei, Panaga School and International School Brunei (ISB). I’m passionate about creating strong, supportive connections with my students and ensuring every child feels empowered to thrive. 

I value and prioritise creating meaningful connections with the children in the schools where I teach and strive to ensure every child has the tools they need to flourish. I enjoy sharing my passion for the environment and wildlife with the students in my care, inspiring meaningful action by modelling and participating in community initiatives. I also love celebrating the successes and enrichment achievements of the children within the school.

Beyond school, I’ve supported expat families through leadership roles in community groups, helping build connection and support networks.

I am really looking forward to working in partnership with the parents of PDO School to nurture a love of learning and a growth mindset in every child. I can’t wait to begin this new adventure in Oman with my family. Wishing you all a wonderful summer!
