Welcome back to the start of Term 3. This is a relatively short term with fewer than 50 days to go. Please take note of the following key date for your calendar:
Final Day of Term: Tuesday, 30th June
Dismissal Time: 11:30 am (final day)
Mid-Term Break: A short holiday towards the end of May.
We have a number of events planned for the end of the term; we will advertise these in due course and look forward to celebrating our time together.
As PDO School will close at the end of this term, it is incumbent on parents to ensure that students have a school place secured for the start of the next academic year.
Registration Timelines: Most schools require a registration process that can take several weeks to complete. Please ensure you have started this process.
OPIS Applications: If you intend for your child to attend OPIS, you must submit a formal application. There is no automatic transfer from PDO school to OPIS; they are separate entities.
Documentation: Should you require any school documents or records before your departure, it is important to request these well in advance to ensure they are processed before the end of the term. We will provide access to all end of year school reports and a school transfer certificate for all children.
As we go through the transition to new schools, it is important that parents discuss the upcoming changes with their children. While the final decision on where a child will be enrolled is a parental choice, involving your child in the discussion about their new school and the steps you are taking to support them is vital.
With children moving to different schools, some anxiety may occur. We encourage you to navigate this path alongside your child, helping them build a "map of the future" to ease their uncertainty and foster a sense of security during this transition.
Despite the challenges our staff are currently facing with the school closure and for many, their own upcoming departure from Oman, our primary aim remains to provide a stable, supportive environment for our students.
Let’s plan for a positive final term filled with memorable events and activities.
We are looking forward to seeing you all at the Book Parade tomorrow morning. Please arrive by 0825 at the main reception, however parents may arrive from 0800 and enjoy a coffee in the seating area of the school hall before the parade begins at 0830. Please arrive via our main reception.
It is essential that children continue to have their hats and water bottles in school everyday. You may also wish to apply sunscreen to your child before school. Temperatures are rising and very soon our hot weather break time systems will take place. This is where our children have the option of coming inside on the relevant break times.

Miss Nivine and Miss Iveth attended the ceremony, where recognition was given by HE Dr Jokha Al Shukaili, Chief Executive Officer of the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education and Dr Khadija Al Salami, Director General of Private Schools at the Ministry of Education.
Our practice was recognised for its focus on inquiry-led learning and play-based pedagogy in the foundation years, alongside the alignment of physical development, wellbeing and personalised learning goals.
This recognition highlights our commitment to high-quality, child-centred practice aligned with the Oman Vision 2040 and reflects the impact of bridging international best practice with national educational priorities.
We thank the entire Early Years team for their dedication, collaboration and continued commitment to excellence.
We are excited to continue sharing our Personal Goals Padlet platform in our weekly newsletter to celebrate achievements together as a wider community.

We kindly ask for your support in capturing moments when your child demonstrates any of the Personal Learning Goals - whether at home, in the park, during outdoor play or in daily routines. For example, if your child shows collaboration while playing outside, you may upload one photo and select the appropriate Personal Goal folder (e.g., “Collaboration”).
Families are welcome to share one photo per week if they wish, highlighting a Personal Goal your child has demonstrated.
Please click on the Padlet link below to share your child’s achievement with our community. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to celebrate their out-of-school achievements and for us to reinforce that their Personal Learning Goals are transferable skills beyond the classroom.
Thank you for supporting the celebration of children’s achievements.

After sharing The Rainbow Fish, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Supertato, the children enjoyed painting, gluing and sticking as they created their own beautiful crafts inspired by the stories. We also had a special visit to the Book Café, where the children explored books and shared them with their friends. A big thank you to our wonderful guest readers for sharing their time and stories with us, it truly made the week even more special.
This week in Year 1, we enjoyed a special visit from our Year 6 buddies for some shared reading. The older children were kind and supportive, and our Year 1 children loved reading together. It was a lovely example of how working together helps everyone feel more confident.

We also learnt about book reviews and how to recommend books to others. The children practised talking about their favourite parts and thinking about why someone else might enjoy the same story.
It has been a great week for building confidence and helping the children see themselves as readers.
This week in Year 3, we have been exploring the 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. The children learned about what happens to rubbish after it is thrown away, which led to thoughtful discussions about how we can make more sustainable choices.

To bring this learning to life, the children reused a variety of materials to create their own rainforest animals as part of our Entry Point for Vanishing Rainforests. It was fantastic to see their creativity and problem-solving skills in action!
We are also continuing to focus on reusing by giving new life to the unwanted soft toys kindly donated last term. Each child has chosen a toy and is turning it into a special “reading buddy” for our Reception children. They are currently writing a short description to introduce their buddy and make it extra special.
Year 6 made a vibrant and memorable start to their new IPC unit, Moving People, with an exciting Entry Point full of culture, collaboration and curiosity.

The children arrived at school dressed to represent their home, host, or heritage countries, creating a wonderful display of diversity across the year group. Outfits ranged from traditional national dress to sports kits and clothing inspired by the colours of different national flags. The Learning Souq quickly transformed into a celebration of global identity, with each child proudly showcasing a part of their story.
To deepen their learning, pupils also brought in a variety of artefacts and items linked to their chosen countries. These included flags, souvenirs, books and meaningful objects that helped tell the story of their culture and heritage. Each item sparked conversation and encouraged students to ask questions and make connections.
Working collaboratively, the children shared information within their groups, learning from one another about different countries, traditions and experiences. They then presented their findings to the wider Year 6 group, demonstrating excellent communication skills and a growing understanding of how people and cultures are connected across the world.
This engaging Entry Point has set a strong foundation for the Moving People unit, where students will continue to explore migration, identity and the reasons why people move. We are looking forward to seeing how their learning develops in the weeks ahead!
A huge congratulations to our newest Learners of the Week! This award recognises the incredible effort they put into their learning and the excellent ways they are putting their personal goals into practice. It's fantastic to see them growing and becoming such dedicated and confident learners.
