Dear Parents,
I want to focus on the recent MP1 Exit Point Celebrations, where students and parents came together in a learning focused event. The event was a testament to the power of shared learning experiences. Children showcased their learning, while parents engaged in meaningful conversations that deepened understanding and sparked new questions. It was a dialogue between students and parents.
Many thanks to our teaching staff who designed learning-focused activities that encouraged critical thinking and creativity. What stood out most was the way parents and students discussed these activities together—asking questions, exploring ideas, and celebrating achievements.
The written comments from the parents were appreciated; I have read through several feedback comments and words like proud, amazing, excited, and learning are the prevalent theme through all the parental comments.
Why Parental Involvement Matters
Research continues to affirm what we see every day: parental involvement is one of the strongest predictors of student success. A report from the Journal of Psychology and Education highlighted that specific dimensions of parental involvement—such as attending school events and discussing learning—have a measurable impact on achievement. Your presence, your questions, your encouragement—they matter. They shape attitudes, build confidence, and reinforce the value of learning.
Teachers provide passion and expertise, students bring curiosity and energy and parents bring support and insight. Each role is essential, and each contribution strengthens the whole.
A big thanks to our whole community for providing such a positive learning experience.
Staff Training- Please note the school will be closed on November the 6th; all staff will be attending an external training event. This has been on the calendar since the start of the year.
Staff Update
I want to share that Thursday will be Claire Richmond’s final day at PDO School. Claire and her family have made this decision in recent days.
Claire has chosen to resign from her role and return to the UK because of a medical complication with a family member.
This decision has not come easily, and Claire is understandably emotional about leaving PDO School and the community she has been such a vital part of.
Since joining PDO during a particularly challenging time, Claire has shown unwavering commitment. Many of you will have engaged with Claire over her time and will be aware of her dedication to the children of PDO School.
As a close colleague, I’ve witnessed the personal sacrifices Claire has made to help shape PDO School into the organisation it is today. Her contributions over the past two years have left a lasting impact.
We are respecting Claire's wishes to not have a formal farewell at this sensitive time.
We are exploring ways to mitigate the impact of Claire’s departure. Please be reassured that business continuity is our priority.
On October 6th, we took 24 enthusiastic U11 boys and girls to the MPSL Skittleball Tournament at BSM. It was a fantastic afternoon, filled with energy, teamwork and sportsmanship.

We are incredibly proud of all the students for their hard work, positive attitude and excellent behaviour.
Wishing everyone a well deserved and rested half term holiday. We look forward to a busy 2nd half of the term when we return.
We would like to invite the Year 1 and 2 parents to a Maths Passport workshop on Monday 3rd November, starting at 8.05am in the staff room. This workshop will explain what the Maths Passport is, why is it vital to your child's learning and how you can support at home.
I look forward to seeing you all there.
Miss Liz
For Term 1, Year 3N children have been learning to perform as an ensemble. This involved learning to play several different instruments, writing simple rhythms, developing a structure for their piece and performing it as a class.

The children used their senses to observe the bright colours, take in the fresh, zesty smells and finally experience the tangy and sweet tastes of lemons, oranges and limes. There were lots of giggles, puckered faces and “mmm!” moments as we compared flavours and textures. A moment we will all remember for the smiles (and silly sour faces)!
This week, our Year 1 children celebrated their Exit Point and Reflection of Learning. They were so proud and excited to share all the wonderful things they have been learning, not only from our IPC unit If You’re Happy and You Know It, but also from their reading, writing and maths activities.

These visits are an exciting part of our transition programme, designed to promote adaptability and confidence as students prepare for the next stage of their educational journey.
Throughout the day, pupils had the opportunity to experience life in a new school environment—meeting teachers, exploring facilities, and taking part in engaging taster lessons and activities. Accompanied by their existing teachers and classmates, the students were able to ask questions, build familiarity and imagine themselves as part of their potential future school communities.
The transition experience plays a key role in helping students develop independence, curiosity and resilience—skills that will serve them well as they move forward. By giving students a glimpse into the expectations and opportunities of their potential next schools, these Open Days help ensure a smooth and positive transition from primary to secondary education.

We would love for you to share your skills, hobbies or expertise to enrich our IPC and IEYC curriculum. Your talents can make learning exciting and meaningful for the children!
We are creating a Learning-Link Document to connect your expertise with classroom topics, giving children real-world experiences and strengthening home–school partnerships.
As we welcome a number of new families and teachers to our school community, we are looking at ways to further enhance our curriculum provision for the children. If you are open to sharing and potentially collaborating with us, perhaps through a creative demonstration, your involvement would be most welcome. All hobbies, skills and interests are valued: examples could be cooks, artists, engineers, musicians or storytellers, geologists. Your contribution could help children experience learning in new and exciting ways.
If you would like to get involved, please complete the form below. Teachers will then be able to contact you to invite you into class or support learning if there is a curriculum match.
Thank you to the parents who have already shared their talents, your support has truly brought learning to life!
