Dear Parents,
All parents will be receiving a questionnaire from PDO in due course. This is an important survey from company that will collect information from parents of PDO school. We encourage all parents to complete the survey and to ensure that PDO receive a comprehensive reflection from our whole community.
PTA - We now have several parents who have volunteered for the key committee positions in the PTA, we have also received expressions of interest from other parents verbally. We have only received one nomination for each committee position so these parents will be automatically elected to these positions, without the need for an election. We will meet with the committee next week before holding a meeting for the rest of the PTA later in the term. As ever, thanks to all parents who have expressed an interest in supporting the school.
HSE- We are working with our road safety team on the incident from last Thursday, we did request that our security teams were visible during the start and the end of the day. We will send further information if we revive further updates.
Consultants Visit- We will be receiving a consultation visit this Term, this will be conducted by 2 external consultants. They will be collaborating on our response to the review in 2023 and the progress we have made towards our targets. They will also be working with several staff on several training platforms that will enhance the learning for our students. They will be talking to parents so please take the opportunity to connect with them if you see them in school.
Thank you to all parents of children in Milepost One who attended our Phonics and Reading workshop. If you would like to know more about how we teach phonics and reading in school, please feel free to contact Ms Julie Ann at, jbeckinsale@pdoschool.com

This week, the children used a KWL routine (What We Know, Want to Know, and Learned) to explore tigers. After watching an educational video, they created a diorama showing what tigers eat and where they live. The class then shared their learning and set up a tiger-themed display to teach others. It was a fun, hands-on learning experience!
Linking to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals - Goal 8, we read The Tiger Who Came to Tea and had a visit from a tiger who was so sad because people were taking his fur for fashion. The children came up with creative ideas on how to protect tigers from harm.

The purpose of these displays (one for each Personal Learning Goal) is to help children to understand the meaning of each goal and how it applies to them personally. We aim to raise awareness of how we can demonstrate and observe these goals across all areas of our lives including academic, social and personal.

The Dream Sound Space project creates a safe and supportive environment for children to explore a multi-sensory experience guided by sound. By balancing rest and activity, our soundscapes stimulate brain waves and mimic REM sleep patterns, activating the body’s natural healing abilities.
We encourage children to tune into their senses, promoting awareness and connection to themselves and their surroundings. We are proud to be the first school in the Gulf and the Middle East to implement this innovative approach. Additionally, Ms. Elira, a facilitator from Energy School, will join our sessions to enrich the experience.
A remarkable amount of new learning has been taking place over the last few weeks in Choose-day's Cooking. So far, the children have made: pancakes, omelettes and flatbread pizza!
