I hope that you all have a relaxing holiday for the next 4 days, we return to school on Sunday as normal.
The end of term is approaching fast; a reminder that we finish early on the last day of term and we request that children are collected at 11.30am.
Many thanks for your support.
The accompaniment of the traditional Omani band added an authentic and rhythmic energy, filling the atmosphere with pride and joy, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
The celebration on the school playing field was a joyful spectacle with the children, dressed in traditional clothing or national colours and our Omani staff in stunning and often highly elaborate traditional dress.
The atmosphere of excitement and fun continued throughout the day with classroom activities and later in the morning, our children learnt more about the traditional culture of their host country through traditional Omani pastimes in the Learning Souq.
The week beginning the 7th December the children from Year 1 to Year 6 will be taking part in 'The Great Egg Challenge'. The children will have to design, make and test a contraption that can keep a raw egg from breaking/sinking whilst being dropped or transported over a distance. For further details on each year group's specific challenge, please check your email and SeeSaw messages.
For those of you who will be coming to the The Grand Hormuz Hotel on December 8th for the Tree Lighting Ceremony and PDO School Choir performance, the hotel are also running a gingerbread house making competition. In previous years, this has proved to be very popular and many of our PDO children have taken part after the performance. However, prior booking is highly recommended as numbers are limited and from past experience, places to get taken up quite quickly. The contact details are opposite if you are interested. Please do not contact me for advice as my gingerbread making skills are definitely not worth OMR 10!! : )
Please note the Gingerbread House event is not organised by PDO school, we are unable to verify any Safeguarding or HSE procedures for this event.
Mr Gary
In connection with Nursery Rhyme and Poetry Week, the children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring poems, songs, and rhymes in their French lessons over the past few weeks. This engaging approach not only enhances their language skills but also fosters a love for learning through rhythm and creativity.

Learning poems, songs, and rhymes in French is a fantastic way for children to build their confidence in speaking while also memorising vocabulary and grammar structures in an engaging manner.
Over the past few weeks, our Year 3 and 4 students have been learning the famous children's song, "Alouette." With the support of Mr. Gary, the children shared their learning during assembly last week with the rest of the school.
Meanwhile, Year 5 transformed into French poets! They spent the last couple of weeks improving their dictionary skills to create their own simile poems in French. To develop their confidence speaking aloud and improve their pronunciation skills, they practised reading their poems aloud and proudly shared their creations with their families on Seesaw.
A huge congratulations to our newest Learners of the Week! This award recognises the incredible effort they put into their learning and the excellent ways they are putting their personal goals into practice. It's fantastic to see them growing and becoming such dedicated and confident learners.
We are excited to continue sharing our Personal Goals Padlet platform in our weekly newsletter to celebrate achievements together as a wider community.
We kindly ask for your support in capturing moments when your child demonstrates any of the Personal Learning Goals - whether at home, in the park, during outdoor play or in daily routines. For example, if your child shows collaboration while playing outside, you may upload one photo and select the appropriate Personal Goal folder (e.g., “Collaboration”).
Families are welcome to share one photo per week if they wish, highlighting a Personal Goal your child has demonstrated.
Please click on the Padlet link below to share your child’s achievement with our community. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to celebrate their out-of-school achievements and for us to reinforce that their Personal Learning Goals are transferable skills beyond the classroom.
Thank you for supporting the celebration of children’s achievements.
The IC Team
We are excited to share an expanded range of opportunities for the children in Y1-Y6 for next term. However, the timing of Ramadan will lead to clubs being run only for the first six weeks of term. The club brochure and sign up form are now available:
Sign up will close on Friday 5th December.
