Many thanks to all the parents who attended the Meet the Teacher event, it was good to meet you all and share our common goal in supporting children at PDO school. It was a pleasure to introduce our eight new teachers, who have had a busy few weeks in joining the school and also it was great to share a welcome and refresh for our parents on our existing teachers' roles. Thanks for the positive words that many of you shared last night. ( Please see the presentation below)
At the start of the year it is helpful to share a few housekeeping points and HSE notices that will all help to support our children.
Parents are welcome into school in the morning, please walk your child to the classroom if required.
Can we please ask that we all try and use the crossing places in school as it sets a good example to all and prepares our students for the real world of road crossing.
Please support the school in ensuring all children are using seatbelts and car seats where appropriate.
Student Departures - can we please request that all parents keep the school updated on any plans that parents have for the future. It helps us to plan if we know when students are departing.

In the Early Years, we follow the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC), which inspires curiosity, creativity and critical thinking. Our learning is student-centered, letting each child explore their interests and grow at their own pace. We include the UN Sustainable Development Goals in our activities to help children understand the world and the importance of caring for it. We also focus on building global competence and international mindedness, helping children appreciate different cultures and perspectives.
The Early Years Team is excited for the year ahead and cannot wait to share this learning journey with you and your children.

This week we have been exploring new ideas, asking big questions and discovering how we learn best. Through collaboration and teamwork, we have been building strong friendships and supporting one another. The children have been developing key skills that help them to think deeply, reflect and grow with confidence. We have also been learning 'how to learn' by being curious, resilient and proud of our progress. As we progress through the year, there will be challenges but we will be developing our Growth Mindsets to support us through these. We look forward to lots of laughter, creativity and plenty of “aha!” moments. Together, we’ll make this term unforgettable, full of wonder, discovery and shared success.

The children have been busy using art work to answer the question, 'Who am I?', writing letters to their teachers and their future selves, and learning about metacognition and how they can help themselves to learn.
