Curriculum
Below is an overview of the curriculum in term one for P4 and some English resources for home.
Term 1
Maths
Place Value.
Addition using mental strategies and formal written methods.
Subtraction using mental strategies and formal written methods.
Multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 times table.
Multiply using mental strategies and moving to formal written methods.
English
P4 will be studying The Great Kapok Tree and The Iron Man as a whole class texts this term. At the bottom of thispage you will a digital copy of our current book along with a reading video of the story.
In guided reading we will be studying The Worst Witch by Jill Murphy.
We will be having stand-alone grammar lessons following the English National Curriculum for years 3 & 4.
There will be weekly spelling lists and tests based on the KS2 English curriculum. Please see the specifc section on this site for spelling words for Year 3 & 4.
IPC
Our two IPC topics this term are:
Saving the World - Rainforests
Oman
Pupils will study geography, history and science through these topics in addition to practicing their speaking, reading and writing skills in English.
