Hello! My name is Stefanie Janko and I am so excited to be your student's 6th grade math teacher this year!! I want to use this page to discuss class policies, daily class expectations, and grading.
Students should check their Google Classroom everyday. The agenda will be posted daily. If a student is absent and is able, they should check Google Classroom for their assignments. If they can, they can complete the assignment before they return.
Students will be getting a weekly Spiral Review as Homework. We will go over each column from the night before. Students MUST show their work. They can do this on another piece of notebook paper or on the back on the page. Please make sure that they label with the correct day. This will be one weekly grade.
Other grades will come from Lesson Quizzes and Lesson Homework. Students who get their homework signed by their parent or guardian and bring it in complete the day of the quiz, will receive 5 extra credit points on their quiz!! I like for students to do this so that parents and guardians can see what we are learning. Parents and guardians can also go over the students' work and make sure they are ready for the quiz.
After students finish the first iReady Diagnostic and the MAP tests, we will have Teacher/ Student meetings. I will start this week as students complete the iReady Diagnostic. We will be goal setting and talking about their individual data. We will talk about their strengths and areas where they need to improve. Then we will set a learning path for this 9 weeks for students to accomplish in order to meet those goals.
Students will be completing iReady lessons. Everytime the student passes a lesson or a workspace, they will receive a stamp and a treat. At the end of the 9 weeks, those students who have completed their learning path will receive a reward!!
Corrections on test and homework can be made. Students must do this on another piece of notbook paper and staple it to the front of the original assignment. Student MUST show their work to prove why they changed the answer. No credit will be given if work is not shown. Students can also ask for help if they do not understand. I encourage them to do this!!
