Back to School Information

Arrival Procedures

In the mornings, students are expected to walk to the gym or cafeteria when they arrive. Students should not walk to the classroom alone. Students will remain in the gym until they are picked up by their teacher.

Dismissal Procedures

Dismissal time is at 2:45. If arrangements for going home change, please send a note or call the school to notify us. No child will be sent home a different way without a note or call.

Communication

The website will be updated weekly with important information about our grade level. The students will also have a Communication Folder. Please check the folder each night. They need to be returned the next day. We will check these daily as well.

Birthdays

Students may celebrate their birthday by bringing in a simple, non-edible treat. This includes stickers, pencils, trinkets, etc. Edible treats, including candy, are not allowed. Birthday party invitations can only be passed out at school if the whole class is invited or a boy student may invite all of the class boys and a girl student may invite all of the class girls.

Absences

Since work in 1st grade is hard to make up, attendance is very important. If your child is absent, please make sure to send a note to school to excuse your child.

A few notes.....

  • First grade will get grades and graded papers go home periodically.
  • Parent Teacher Conferences will be scheduled for September 9 (no school for students) and February 10 (no school for students). Information will be sent at the appropriate time for conference scheduling.
  • When sending money to school, please put it in an envelope with your child's name on it and the purpose for the money.
  • Parent Volunteers are often needed. All Volunteers are required to have a background check before volunteering in the school building or chaperoning on a field trip. You will be asked to present your Volunteer Card. If you are available, please contact your child's teacher. Please sign-in at the office before coming to the classroom to volunteer.
  • When students are present, I will not able to discuss individual student issues at that time. However, I would be happy to set up a conference with you.
