An introduction to PBIS at Parley's Park Elementary School

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PBIS?

"Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports" is a teacher and student-driven approach to learning and reinforcing expected behavior in school. Similar systems are in use in thousands of schools throughout the U.S. Check out https://www.pbis.org/

How does it work?

After students and staff are trained in the system, every staff member in the school will be on the lookout for examples of positive behavior, leadership, and kindness. Students will earn tickets that can be redeemed for prizes.

What are the expectations at Parley's?

We're glad you asked! Check out the rules here on our behavior matrix.

Where can I track my students tickets and points?

Class Dojo/More Information to come.

Aren't you just rewarding what kids should be doing anyway?

We teach children to read, write, and think critically in schools. We also need to teach children how to behave! Variable positive reinforcement leads to fast, dramatic results.
