What is a school counselor? A school counselor is a counselor and an educator who works in elementary, middle, and high schools to support the academic, personal/social, and career development of all students. This is done by creating a comprehensive, results-based school program that includes:
Classroom and school-wide events, such as (living a drug-free life), respect and anti-bullying presentations, and College and Career Day
Coordination and consultation with students, teachers, families, and other support staff to help students succeed
Small group and individual counseling, on a short-term basis, to help students develop new skills to use at school and at home
Connecting families to community resources for additional counseling or other services needed
