We will provide carts outside of the centers and an extension cord in each center. The contest site does not provide a projector or speakers for any event. Plan accordingly!
LOADING/UNLOADING
Please plan to have your bus drivers drop off students and equipment on the north side of the school in the small parking lot.
BUS/SUBURBAN PARKING
Please plan to have your bus drivers drop off students on the north side of the school. Busses may then park on the north side of the school in the designated bus parking or along the unload zone. If the north lot is full, please go around to the south lot and park in the bus loading zone in the south lot.
Suburbans may park in the south parking lot of the middle school. Check "Directions and Parking" tab for more details.
SPECTATOR PARKING
Parking is EXTREMELY limited at the middle school. Please plan to arrive very early before your student's entry times to allow yourself PLENTY of time if you are shuttling to the middle school.
There will be two shuttle buses available throughout the day at the following locations:
One shuttle will stop at: Prairie City United Methodist Church, Buffalo by Casey's, Recreation Park/ball fields, and town square.
One shuttle will stop at: Family Life Center, Pella Regional Health Center, and the open field to the west of Pella Regional Health Center.
There will designated signs where the shuttle will stop.
Other parking options that are close to the middle school include: the middle school parking lot, streets north and south of the school (please pay CLOSE attention to any no parking signs), and the Community Center across from the school's playground.
CONTEST FEES/PROGRAMS
There is a $5 suggested donation for entry of all guests, and a $2 suggested donation for programs. Performing students and coaches are admitted at no charge. Please be sure to tell your team's supporters your SCHOOL CODE so they can find your performances. We will station some helpers at our welcome and donation tables.
PERFORMANCE RIGHTS
Make sure you have secured all performance rights for all performance pieces, music, and royalties. The judge may ask where they got their music from, so be prepared and proactive.
VIDEO/PHOTOGRAPHY
Please remind all spectators and parents that photography and videotaping during a performance is strictly prohibited.
ETIQUETTE
Please remind all spectators and parents that they should not wear school-identifying clothing. Additionally, a parent or spectator should never approach a judge for any reason. If the parent or spectator has an issue, please have them speak to you, and then you can bring the concern to the front office, where the contest manager and district officer will handle the situation.
HOME BASE
The middle school gym will serve as the home base for all students during the day. Please remind students to be respectful of the space. There will be a second gym available in the elementary in case more space is needed for students.
MAPS OF THE SCHOOL
Maps will be available on the day of contest at the donation tables and in the office.
COMMENT SHEETS
Don't forget your comment sheets! If you need extra copies, they will be available for purchase in the high school front office.
Once all of your ratings have been posted for the entire day, you may pick up your comment sheets in the ballot pick-up area, near the front office. This will be indicated on the maps you receive at the school.
RATINGS
Ratings will be posted in the gym near home base.
CONTEST SCHEDULE
Remember that performance times are approximate. Please inform your parents to be early. We do not want anyone missing a performance they want to see. Remind your performers that they can inform the room chair that they would like to wait until their scheduled time to perform if a center is running early and they are missing an audience member.
FOOD
PCM Fine Arts Boosters are offering a wide variety of foods for purchase as a fundraiser for their organization. There will be a few outside vendors also available. We would love for teams to support the Boosters and vendors present at the day of the contest. Check out the concessions tab for a specific lists of foods.
NOISE
Please help us keep the noise down in the hallways to be respectful of ongoing performances. We have provided many warm-up rooms to help with noise, but please remind your students and spectators to keep the volume down in the hallways.
Thank you! Let us know if you have any other questions! We are looking forward to a great day!
