Description:
A new method is implemented or road extraction. The road extraction method involves the three main steps: Contrast Enhancement of the low illumination very high resolution (VHR) satellite images so that road detection becomes easy. In some cases where the object present in the image is not detectable due to low contrast, there image enhancement plays the major role. Also, sometimes when the object(road) is covered due to some other objects i.e bulilding, trees etc. There also image enhancment plays the major role in object (road) detection. In step two, clustering of VHR satellite images are done using two different methods namely K-Means clustering and PSO clustering algorithm. In step three, removal of non-road parts is done to extract only the road part of the VHR satellite images. The non-road part of VHR satellite images are removed using morphological operations which includes dilation and erosion method.
