Welcome to Week 1!

It is very important that you come to the first class on September 22nd!  If you do not come you will probably be dropped from the class.

This week we will do an English placement to make sure you are in the correct class.

This week we will learn and practice:

Speaking 🗣️: introducing ourselves; asking and answering questions; pronouncing /s/; pronouncing Be verb contractions.

Listening 👂: understanding who someone is talking about; understanding the difference between Be verb + and -; understanding an introduction

Reading 📖: reading about people; understand who it is about; understanding the difference between Be verb + and -.

Writing ✍️: writing about ourselves; use capital and lowercase letters; use sentence format.

This week we will pay for class, get a parking permit, and get the class textbook.

Homework:

• Pay for class (at class Sept. 24th $129.20) or submit a fee waiver (before Sept. 23)

• Get a parking permit if you use a car (at class Sept. 24th $50)

• Get the textbook (at class Sept. 24th $42.70)

• Learn week 1 vocabulary Learn how to say the words, how to spell the words, what the words mean.

• Read in English 10-15 minutes every day.  Write down what you read in your reading log.

• Listen to English 10-15 minutes every day.  Write down what you listened to in your listening log.

Welcome to Week 2!

This week we will finish the Welcome Unit.

This week we will start Unit 1: My School and we will explore PCC.

This week we will learn and practice:

Speaking 🗣️: ask about what time, place, person or thing it is; talk about what is and isn’t in a place; ask how many things are in a place.

Listening 👂:  understand if someone is asking about time, place, a person or a thing; understand what is and isn’t in a place, understand how many things are in a place.

Reading 📖: use prediction to understand what you are reading; read about life at school; understand what is and isn’t in a classroom or school; understand if there is one thing vrs. many things in a place.

Writing ✍️: write a paragraph about PCC or another school.

Homework:

• Learn week 2 vocabulary Learn how to say the words, how to spell the words, what the words mean.

• Read in English 10-15 minutes every day.  Write down what you read in your reading log.

• Listen to English 10-15 minutes every day.  Write down what you listened to in your listening log.

This week we will continue Unit 1: My School.

This week we will learn and practice:

Speaking 🗣️: talk about places around PCC; talk about where things are; talk about places/things that we don't know the name of; talk about when something happens at school; ask about when, what and where something happens/is at school.

Listening 👂:  understand vocabulary about places; understand where things are; understand if something is plural/singular/near/far; understand time; understand questions about when, what, and where something is.

Reading 📖: understand stories that mention places and things at school, understand where things are, understand if something is plural/singular/near/far; understand time.

Writing ✍️: write a paragraph about PCC or another school.

Computer Class: use websites to study English, log into MyPCC, access MyPCC email.

Homework:

Welcome to Week 4!

This week we will finish Unit 1: My School.  On Friday we will do the Midterm Exam.

This week we will prepare for the Midterm Exam.  We will do practice problems together during our Wednesday class and do a Kahoot on Friday before the exam.

This week we will learn and practice:

Speaking 🗣️: practice talking about showing something belongs to someone (possessive pronouns), asking clarifying questions.

Listening 👂:  understand what belongs to who when people use possessive adjectives and nouns

Reading 📖: understand possessive pronouns and adjectives in a story, use prediction to help understand a story

Writing ✍️: write a paragraph about PCC or another school.

Computer Class: use websites to study English, log into MyPCC, access MyPCC email.

Homework:

• Learn week 4 vocabulary Learn how to say the words, how to spell the words, what the words mean.

• Read in English 10-15 minutes every day.  Write down what you read in your reading log.

Welcome to Week 5!

This week we will start Unit 4: A Typical Day (at School).

We will look at our Midterm scores and make goals for the rest of class.

This week we will learn and practice:

Speaking 🗣️: talk about what happens during a typical school day, use time words to tell when something usually happens, use adverbs of frequency to talk about how often something usually happens, let someone know something that doesn't happen during a typical school day, ask someone if something happens or doesn't happen during their class, ask someone wh- questions to find out more about what happens during their class, pronounce the /s/ when talking about what he or she does.

Listening 👂:  understand when someone talks about something that usually happens vrs something that is, understand when something happened in relation to other things that happened (time words), understand how often something happens, understand when something happens vrs doesn't happen, be able to differentiate and respond to wh questions about what happens during their class.

Reading 📖: arrange a reading text in order based on the time words used, understand how often something happens and make a chart, understand when something happens vrs doesn't happen.

Writing ✍️: write about what happens and doesn't happen in a neighboring classroom, spell he/she/it verbs, 

Computer Class: use websites to study English, log into MyPCC, access MyPCC email, write an email to another student, use the internet to practice typing.

Homework:
