Episode 43 ended on March 10th, 2026 at 6:21 p.m. HST. Very preliminary models suggest that episode 44 fountains are likely to occur between the end of March and the first half of April.

No significant activity has been noted along Kīlauea’s East Rift Zone or Southwest Rift Zone.

Episode 42 of lava fountaining in Halemaʻumaʻu began at the summit of Kīlauea began at 1:50 p.m. HST on February 15, 2026, but was paused as of 11:38 p.m. HST on February 15th.
Two fountains presented both approaching or exceeding 1000 feet (300 meters) in height. The fountains produced heat and ash that is driving the plume rising from the eruption site.

Overnight webcams are showing consistent glow on the SW vent and a weaker glow from the North vent.
Seismic tremors are occurring ever 5-10 minutes & sporatic earthquake swarm activity continues at the summit. A fourth earthquake swarm was recorded yesterday, January 15, just after 4 PM HST.
The current forecast for future lava flows is January 20-25, 2026
