Meet the ESOL Club Leaders

Santiago Gustin, ESOL Instructor

ESOL Club Leader at Southeast

I'm originally from Colombia, but I've been living in the Portland area since 2015. I have been a language teacher since 2012. Part of what I love about my job is meeting people from around the world and learning about different cultures. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, going to the beach, discovering new music, and watching good movies.

Davida Jordan, ESOL Instructor

ESOL Club Leader - Zoom

I have taught ESOL for over 20 years.  I started teaching in Santa Cruz, California.  I have lived and worked in Portland since 2002.  I am married and have two kids.  I also have the most beautiful dog in the world.  My goal is to one day study all of my students' languages.  I have studied French, Spanish, Hungarian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew, Yiddish, Russian, and American Sign Language.  In my free time, I love listening to music, reading, and doing Zumba.

Lara Mendicino, ESOL Instructor

ESOL Club Leader at Southeast

I've been an ESOL Instructor for about 12 years. Before that, I edited mystery novels for a publishing company in New York City. I love to read fiction, nonfiction and poetry. I also like to draw, play piano and guitar, and dance. I like to play sports, even though I am very bad at all of them. I love my job so much because I learn a lot from students, and I'm interested in their life experiences. I like to travel to new places where I can stay in someone's home, and my second home is in Morocco.
